Background: Poor glycemic control is not specific to individuals with obesity or diabetes. Furthermore, poor glycemic control predicts the development of these conditions and other metabolic dysfunction.

Results: Non-obese individuals took part in a study similar to that described above. As in obese individuals, the ketone ester drink caused non-obese individuals to exhibit smaller glucose (blood sugar) spikes, along with improvements in markers of insulin sensitivity, suggesting the metabolic benefits of the ketone ester are generalizable.
